Within the deep green tropical jungle of Xcaret Park lies a truthful replica of a Mayan Village. Settled with the most exuberant vegetation, Xcaret´s Mayan Village is a sight that contrasts in beauty and mysticism within the rest of the activities and attractions in the Park.

Throughout the Yucatan Peninsula including the Riviera Maya in Quintana Roo, there are many authentic Mayan villages and communities that have kept their millenary traditions, festivities and unique lifestyles that go back to the times before the Spanish Conquest, when nature was considered sacred and the heart was inspired by the highest spirits honored at the ancient archaeological sites.

As in all ancient cities, the Mayan villages remained in the outskirts far away from the temples, pyramids and palaces that were exclusive home to royalty, nobles, priests and the ruling families. Xcaret´s Mayan Village was built next to an underground river where crystal clear springs flow slowly by the thatched-roof houses, just as the real Mayan villages use to be edified near fresh water sink holes, known as cenotes.

Steps away from Xcaret´s Apiary and the Butterly Pavilion, through original sascab caves and the aroma of burning incense, visitors will find Xcaret´s Mayan village with original “palapa” houses and a real-life stage of the daily life in Mayan communities. Somebody will be cooking in a Mayan kitchen; others will be netting traditional dresses, and carving wood figures of gods and animals.

Xcaret´s Mayan Village also features an ancestral stone altar in the heart of the village, surrounded by a turquoise river, which comes to life in the evening as part of Xcaret´s Night Show with a series of spectacular Mayan dances such as the “fire ritual”, were a group of artists dressed up as Mayan warriors follow the rhythm of drums, shells and chants in a vibrant representation to honor one of nature´s four elements: fire.

Xcaret´s Mayan Village will guide its visitors to a journey back in time, were children and adult alike can experience the artistic traditions and rich history of the Mayan culture. All Xcaret Tickets include admission to Xcaret´s Mayan Village, from the Xcaret Basic entrance to the most personalized Xcaret Tour (Xcaret Plus, Xcaret Two Days).
