When evening arrives at Xcaret Park, it comes to life with a series of magnificent shows, Mayan ceremonies and colorful performances that have reached international fame as one of the most unique representations of Mexico´s rich ancestral history.
These top Xcaret attractions guide visitors to the most interesting sites in the park, from a mystical Mayan Village to an enormous open theater that resembles a Greek auditorium. Here is the complete list of shows to see in Xcaret at night.
1. Pre-Hispanic Dances. An ancestral stone altar in the heart of Xcaret´s Mayan Village surrounded by a turquoise river, is the magical site where the ancient “fire ritual” is performed by a group of artists dressed up as Mayan warriors. The rhythm of drums, shells and chants honor one of nature´s most precious elements: fire. A labyrinth of dark caves is home to the Mayan “Owl” .The ancient drums will make the “Owl” wake up and fall from the sky, as visitors enjoy the “Owl dance” or Danza de la Lechuza.
2. “Charro” Show. One the starting points of the night festivity. The traditional Xcaret Equestrian Show is a fantastic demonstration of the skills and grace of Mexican horseback riding- known by locals as charreadas- that takes place next to the Hacienda, the stables and La Cocina restaurant. Adelitas (young women riders) and charros (men riders) perform challenging movements on horses, showing of speed and charm. Xcaret Equestrian Show starts at 5:20 pm in summer, and 4:20 pm in winter.
3. Mayan Ball Game. The grand Mesoamerican Ball Game that was practiced by the Mayas and other great pre-Hispanic civilizations is one of the top attractions at Xcaret Park and the highlight of the Xcaret Night Show. This ancestral ritual long time played to honor the gods is a daring ritual where a group of participants dressed up as traditional ball game players dispute a heavy rubber ball that must be bounced and rolled up the high walls of the court until scoring through tall stone rings, only with the hips.
4. Mexico Espectacular. The musical journey of Xcaret Night Show Mexico Espectacular captivates the audience with many different artistic expressions and unique performances of 300 dancers and artists on scene celebrating Mexican culture at its best. The traditional dances and colorful costumes transport visitors to the states of Michoacán, Veracruz, Guerrero and Jalisco. The tapping of the dancer’s shoes becomes a sonorous musical instrument and the flow of the skirts an extravagant explosion of color. Xcaret Night Show starts at 6:00-8:00pm in winter and 7:00-9:00pm in summer.
